At the center of God’s heart is love for one another. All of scripture tells us that the Good News is a story of love - of God’s unending desire to be united with his creation once again. Unity can only be accomplished through our surrender to living a life following Jesus. If we are to be truly transformed into the image of Jesus, then our hearts should move from seeking to satisfy selfish desires to loving others more selflessly.
No doubt there are countless groups you are already a part of - your family, colleagues at work, a sports team, a group of friends. Our nature is wired to live in community with others, and when we are in a season of life where we feel isolated, our hearts long for meaningful connections. Of course we want the love of Jesus to permeate each of these areas of our lives, but in order for that to happen, we need to abide and follow Jesus closely, “taking off” our old selves and letting the Holy Spirit mold us into a new creation (Eph 4:21-24).
Community Groups are a place of participation of God’s love. Groups become a participatory space in which we can come with our authentic selves, be encouraged to live a life of faith and purpose, and to practice truths we are learning as we are faced with life’s challenges. Said a different way, groups are the space where the realities of life and the truth of God’s word meet. This fall we are re-launching our community groups. We have groups of all different kinds! Look through the list and find a group that seems like a good fit for you and get signed up to give it a try!
